Each month, Overtime MMA will feature a member of the month, which is sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings in Plainfield, IL. The member of the month will receive a $20 food certificate to dine at BWW.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Member of the Month for May 2009 is Joey Benefiel.
Joey Benefiel is 24 years old. He is a graduate of Elmhurst College, where he double majored in History and Communications. During college, he was also a member of the Elmhurst Wrestling Team.
Joey just finished his first season as the head wrestling coach at Joliet West High School. He currently substitute teaches, and is going back to school to obtain his teaching certificate.
When Joey was in High School, he trained at the Overtime School of Wrestling with Sean Bormet and the other world class coaches. He retuened to Overtime about 3 months ago, this time to train in MMA and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Joey maintains that wrestling is by far his favorite sport, but since coming back to Overtime, he has really taken a liking to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. It's a little bit different than what he is used to, but with the first class instuction he has received from the Overtime MMA staff, it has been a satisfying transition from wrestling. What Joey likes most about training at Overtime MMA is that it is the best of many worlds -- highest quality coaches, the largest variety of coaches/programs, elite work out partners, and a top of the line training facility.
